A name with local roots

The name Hidden Valley has a special connection to the place we call home.

While Griffith is built against the backdrop of a hill that rises behind the town, at first glance, the surrounding land appears remarkably flat. Yet, look towards the surrounding landscape and you'll see the low mountain ranges stretching across the horizon. Viewed from above, the land and its surrounding ranges create the impression of a valley that isn't immediately obvious from the ground — a little hidden in plain sight.

It's this distinctive character of the local landscape that inspired the name Hidden Valley: a reminder that sometimes there's more to a place than first meets the eye.

Something special for everyone

We understand that finding delicious food isn't always straightforward when certain ingredients need to be avoided. With a range of food intolerances and allergies within our extended family, we have a personal appreciation for how frustrating it can be to miss out on much-loved foods, particularly when everyone else gets to enjoy them.

More than cakes​

In some ways, the seeds of Hidden Valley were planted years earlier. From the children's little cake stalls out the front of our home to volunteering with local school fundraisers, walking the streets of Griffith selling chocolates to support the school, I had seen firsthand how willing people were to get behind a good cause and support those making an effort.

Those experiences helped spark an idea: why not combine that same personal connection with my love of baking? And so, Hidden Valley began out on the streets of Griffith, with fresh baking in my pink trays as I walked from office to office, offering treats to people at their desks. It was a simple way to bring a little sweetness into the working day, allowing people to purchase something fresh without having to leave their posts. Many people around town came to know me through those rounds, and it remains an important part of Hidden Valley's story.
